Nikki Shelton works as a Senior Radiotherapy Medical Physicist at The Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre at Austin Health.
In November 2017 Nikki took her family to Cambodia for a 12 month volunteering assignment with Australian Volunteers International as a Radiotherapy Physics Trainer. Her role was to teach the commissioning process required to set up a newly established radiotherapy centre in the capital Phnom Penh. Together with fellow Aussie Kate Rogl (RT) the team implemented a 3DCRT program on a Varian system. As well as this, they were successful in establishing a gynae brachytherapy program. She has since returned to ONJ and remains involved in the development of brachytherapy for gynae and in the education of Medical Physicists from neighbouring developing countries in the Asia- Pacific region through the IAEA.
